Known for its light, herbal scent, eucalyptus makes an attractive addition to bouquets and centerpieces. As a bonus, eucalyptus’ beautiful symbolism of protection and abundance also makes it a meaningful touch. With their muted color and interesting shapes, they add texture and tie together the other colors in your details. Above, these eucalyptus leaves give this rich bouquet an entirely different shape.
Seeded eucalyptus is another way to incorporate eucalyptus, but it has an entirely different effect. Below, this dreamy bridal bouquet has a very soft feel, but the seeded eucalyptus adds a smaller scale and dynamic texture as the design transitions into more greenery (a great technique if you don’t want a too-round bouquet).
Seeded eucalyptus can be used in different amounts with unique results. Below, this bouquet features more seeded eucalyptus than the previous example, giving it a delightfully “prickly” appearance.
Adding greenery like eucalyptus leaves or seeded eucalyptus can add to the volume for the bouquet for less money than additional blooms. This is a particularly effective technique with bridesmaid bouquets. Use greenery to make the colors pop (above, left) or to thoroughly transform the bouquet. Above, these silver dollar eucalyptus leaves have been spray painted in gold to coordinate with the bridal party’s sparkling dresses (right).
Grooms also love using greenery like eucalyptus because of its simple, rustic charm. Some grooms aren’t the biggest fans of large, colorful floral boutonnieres. Keep them happy while not distracting from your palette and other details by creating discrete eucalyptus boutonnieres instead.
Some areas of your reception are already very colorful, such as your sweet table. Use arrangements of eucalyptus leaves to accent the table with a light hand. The greenery on the above cake table stands out more than an arrangement of pink flowers would have, and without competing against the pretty cake.
The slight blue-green hue of silver dollar eucalyptus can play so well with other colors such as deep reds and maroons. This sweetheart table centerpiece’s jewel-toned flowers are highlighted even more with their eucalyptus backdrop.
Simple, relaxed wedding decor is a huge trend for this generation, whether it be boho chic or urban minimalism. Above, these two examples show off the easy beauty that eucalyptus can give wedding details all on its own like small arrangements (left) and aisle decor (right).
Due to the bulk of eucalyptus leaves, you can create very dramatic statement details with them. Wedding in an industrial or loft venue? A faux “altar” can be yours with just a large swath of eucalyptus hung as an arch against the wall. Similarly, give signage an extra bit of enhancement by covering the tops with a bit of eucalyptus “ivy” and other small greenery (below).
Want a garden on the inside? Wrap eucalyptus around metal hoops and hang them from the ceiling as if they are chandeliers. While they may not light up, these examples below certainly impact the overall feel of this modern venue, changing it from sterile to vibrant.
